Before you buy this book, you need to know three things:1. This book does not have anything to do with the famous chess grandmaster Bobby Fischer. He did not write it. The publishers merely paid him to put his name and image on the book. But the book is still great, unique, and is of immense help to beginners.2. The book does not teach you how to think like a grandmaster, but it does teach you how to not think like a rookie. The entire book is focused on basic mistakes. Therefore, naturally, there will come a point in your chess career when you will no more use any of the techniques in this book. At that point, you might think, “that book was a waste of money”, but in reality, it has already done its job.3. You still need a basic chess book to go with it. This is primarily a puzzle/problems book that you practice on the side.Beginners often do not consider the positions of all the chess pieces when they make a move. They focus only on the piece that directly attacks any of their pieces. As a result, they tend to overlook obvious traps and mates. That is what this book teaches. It is essential, and does a great job of doing what it does.

I bought this book for my son. He liked it very much. He read it cover to cover, flip and back to cover. Puzzles are really good for the beginners.I see many negative reviews about inverted pages. Pls note, the book is ‘intentionally designed’ that way. A reader can try solving a puzzle and and turn-over to see the answer.

I have ordered this book for my kids for learning chess, after receiving the book. 70-80 % of the pages are reverse. Also the paper quality of book is very poor like a news print quality paper. And there is no option is available for return in amazon app. So I intiated the replacement but again I have recieved the same book having reverse pages. Now this time no return/replacement is available in amazon app. One of the worst experience I would like to share for other fellow customers of the amazon. Please do not buy any items from such fraud amazon seller.

Half the pages of the book are printed upside down. The book is great for a new learner and needs no introduction.

Best book to improve tactics
This book is exceptional even though bobby Fischer didn’t write this book it’s still so good. I definitely recommend for the players who are trying to improve.

Great way to learn chess!
I had this book as a kid. You can learn a lot about chess without having to know chess notation. The method used in the book was revolutionary at the time but is very effective! I recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning chess!
